What Parents Can Expect From Our Dance Calendar

For any family joining dance for the first time, figuring out the dance calendar may be a bit overwhelming. We’d like to share our studio timeline with you so you know what’s ahead. The dance year has a rhythm just like the school year. This may seem strange if you are new to dance studio life, but trust us, it won’t be long before this all feels familiar!

We operate on a school year timeline, with a separate summer class session and camps during the warmer months. Our school year dance classes run from September-June with a recital in June to celebrate a fantastic year of dance.

Our Costume Reveal Week has arrived and is often our most exciting week at the studio! It is quite thrilling to see what costume has been selected for each class.

The excitement keeps building from there! On December 4th, 2021 we are hosting a Nutcracker Tea for dancers ages 3-10. Students can meet Clara and other classic Nutcracker characters. They will enjoy some tea and have a storybook reading. We are sure your kids will leave dreaming of sugar plum fairies!  Register your child for this magical event here.

Beginning in January, we will start working on routines for our year-end recital, which happens in June. Teachers and students will work on their dances for months. Classes will spend the last portion of class dedicated to learning choreography and making it look great! All so they will feel confident when it finally comes time to perform!

Soon after recital choreography starts, we will send out an official invitation to our Daddy-Daughter Sweetheart Brunch which will be held on February 5th. This special event will allow families to share their love of dance with each other. You will not want to miss this sweet moment.

As spring flowers start to bloom, the much-anticipated recital costumes will be delivered, tried on, and sent home with dancers.  Before our dance year comes to a close, we will first share a busy week in preparation for recital. Between photo week and dress rehearsal, our students practice getting ready to dance on stage for their big performance.

Our anticipated recital date for 2021 is June 12. It is one of the most cherished parts of our dance year. Parents, family, and friends are invited to see their dancers take the stage and SHINE!

We hope that brings our Music In Motion dance families some clarity in what the rest of this year will bring. We will be sending reminders to families throughout the year via email and our event calendar is a great place to see what is coming in the next few months.

Enjoy the rest of your dance year!
