Registration and tuition

Simple, consistent, no surprise charges

Start by viewing the schedule. Once you have chosen a class, you register or book a free trial through Sawyer, our registration system. School-year tuition is divided into 10 equal installments across a season of about 36 to 39 weeks.

What a season gives your dancer

Two performances

Participation in the Winter Showcase and the Spring Recital, each with a professional concert video, digital on-stage photography and a group class photo. The Spring Recital also includes a commemorative t-shirt and a special gift.

Everything else

A season welcome gift, private weekly SpotTV access to watch class, progress reports, achievement awards, performance pins and holiday celebrations through the season.

Need dancewear? Shop the Music in Motion dancewear store, or read the dress code first. Financial help is available through our scholarship and sponsorship programs.

2026-2027 tuition

Preschool programs

A second class each week is a great way to build confidence and explore new styles — and families who add one automatically receive discounted bundled tuition. Costume fee is $105 to $120 annually per recital class.

  • Pre-School and Kinderdance classes

  • Combo classes, 75 to 90 minutes (Jazz/Hip-Hop/Tumble, Tumble/Ballet/Tap)

    $160 per installment

  • Boys only classes

    $112 per installment

Level 1 to 5 multi-class pricing

Most Level 1 to 5 dancers train in two or more classes each week — and enrolling in more than one automatically receives discounted bundled tuition. Costume fee is $135 annually per recital class.

    $210 per installment

  • 3 classes per week

    $285 per installment

  • 4 classes per week

The "In Harmony" End of Season Recital recap. Your tuition includes participation in the Winter Showcase and the Spring Recital, along with media, photos and a recital t-shirt.

Deposits, costumes, discounts and payments

Enrollment deposit

A $50 enrollment deposit is required per family to reserve your dancer's place in class. It is applied toward your annual tuition and is already reflected in the installment pricing above, so it is not an extra fee.

New families who register within 48 hours of a free trial class have the enrollment deposit waived.

Costume fees

Costume fees are billed separately from tuition and include the Winter Showcase costume rental, the Spring Recital costume, performance tights, hair accessories and a garment bag.

Billing is 50% at registration and 50% automatically charged January 15.

Discounts
  • 8% off seasonal tuition paid by check in full.
  • 4% off semester tuition paid by check in full, not including mini sessions.
  • $150 off applied yearly to siblings.
  • $50 deposit fee refunded for active duty military.
  • Unlimited Individual and Unlimited Family tuition options are available. Contact us for details.
  • Loyalty incentives for 3-year, 5-year and 10-year families.
Payment options
  • Pay in full: 8% discount, by check or cash only. Email office@musicinmotionva.com to arrange payment and registration.
  • Pay by semester: 4% discount by check only, at registration and on January 2.
  • Pay in installments: 10 total installments for the season, September 1 to June 1. Costume fees are billed at registration and on January 15.
  • Cash and checks are accepted, and a valid digital payment method must remain on file for all accounts.
Performance tickets

Winter Showcase tickets are typically $15 to $25 per ticket. Spring Recital ticket pricing will be announced once the 2027 performance venue is finalized.
