Preschool Dance Classes, ages 2-6

After you've chosen a class, you will use our registration software Sawyer to register or schedule your free trial.

You will be prompted to create an account if this is your first time logging into Sawyer. It should only take a few minutes!

Please contact the studio if you run into any trouble.

All preschool dancers should have their hair securely pulled back away from the face. Jewelry, wristbands, and watches should be left at home. Dancers should bring their belongings in a dance bag and change their shoes at the studio.

We recommend purchasing everything your child needs for class conveniently through our online store. Ordered items will be delivered right to your home!

Intro to Dance and Kinderdance Classes:

Leotard: Solid color pink, lavender, or light blue leotard. Leotards may have skirts attached. No removable skirts or tutus.
Tights: “Convertible” style tights (to transition from footed to bare feet) in ballet pink or tan.
Shoes: Pink leather ballet slippers (ideally with no tie)

Combo Classes: 

Leotard: Solid color pink, lavender, or light blue leotard. Leotards may have skirts attached. No removable skirts or tutus.
Tights: “Convertible” style tights (to transition from footed to bare feet) in ballet pink or tan.
Shoes: Pink leather ballet slippers (ideally with no tie), tan mary jane style tap shoes with elastic closure (tap only), clean tennis shoes that will be for dance only and not worn outside the studio (hip hop only). For tap shoes, a velcro closure is preferred over a buckle when possible. This allows dancers to easily and independently put their tap shoes on.

Please leave accessories such as wands, tiaras, purses, and stuffed animals at home. We may allow comfort items for some students on a case-by-case basis.

Dance With Me: ages 18 months - 3 years
A cheerful, energetic class where children can explore a world of music, imagination, and movement. For ages 2-3 caregiver/mommy and me. Specially written music guides the class on an imaginary journey that is fun and easy to follow! Designed to develop basic motor skills, physical awareness, stimulate creativity and imagination. There is NO recital for this class.

Creative Movement: ages 3-4 years
Designed to give young children experience in movement and dance exploration to help facilitate coordination, creativity, flexibility, and strength. Improvisation and basic ballet foundation are emphasized. Ideal for your First Year of dance. Recital participation is OPTIONAL for this class.

Discover Dance: age 4 (2nd-year creative movement)
Our second-year creative dance program for age 4, this class focuses on concepts of space, direction, shape, and speed while exploring ballet, and rhythmic styles such as jazz and tap! Improvisation and creativity are still emphasized within a more structured class setting. This is the first year/class students automatically participate in the recital.

Tumble / Ballet / Tap Combo: ages 4-6
30 minutes of each style help the students to stay focused and energized during this combo class. The beginnings of Ballet discipline, tap rhythm, and fun flexibility are taught by natural movements in this 90-minute class. Spatial relationship and musical timing are emphasized, along with creative exploration and improvisation.

Tumble/Ballet/Jazz Combo Class: ages 4-6
Ballet/Jazz Combo is an exciting and challenging class that reviews the basics and works the disciplines of ballet while incorporating the fun and upbeat feel of the jazz and stylized jazz styles. The Acro portion of class includes an introduction to fundamental acrobatic technique, teaching such skills as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, backbends, walkovers, balance, and contortion tricks, all at each student's individual level of experience. And it's fun, too!

Hip-Hop / Tumble Combo: ages 5-6
An introduction to rhythm, style, coordination danced to TV favorites and Pop music. In this upbeat class, dancers develop rhythm, coordination, and self-expression while learning classroom rules and having fun with friends! In tumbling, learn the basics of floor tumbling and acro skills from a safe and skilled foundation. Young movers explore and gain confidence as they set goals for the year!

Ballet / Tap Combo: ages 5-6
In 1 hour, students will learn pre-ballet repertoire both on the barre and at the center as well as tap rhythm & style. All learning will be focused on creativity, kindness, respect, and fun as we prepare these young students for upper-level classes.

With the exception of our youngest students in Mommy and Me classes and our non-recital mini session we hold throughout the year, all students will have the opportunity to perform on stage!

Our end-of-season recital in June is the highlight of the year.  Dancers showcase everything that they have learned for their proud and supportive friends and family.  Our dancers grow as performers!

In preparation for the recital, Music in Motion charges for costumes in November and a recital fee that includes performance services in March.

We DO offer sibling and multi-class discounts! Our registration fee is waived for active-duty military.

During the summer months, and throughout the season, we offer shorter "mini-sessions" as well as camps so you can experience the joy of dance with a shorter commitment.

In addition to your tuition, families should expect an annual registration fee, a recital fee, and costume charges.
